On March 9th, 2011 Professor Elizabeth Blake from St' Johns University conducted a workshop at the Muslim Center Junior High School. English Language Arts teachers from various other institutions were in attendance. The aim of the workshop was to provide these teachers with creative methods on how to get their students more involved in the writing process. Professor Blake created a classroom setting, allowing the teachers to step into the role of their students. A number of writing assignments were distributed as the teachers were placed in groups and given a time limit in which to accomplish their tasks. The workshop proved to be a great success. The teachers in attendance were not only enriched with new creative methods for teaching the writing process, but they also obtained new perspective on what challenges their students face when trying to find their writing voice.
